I speak with an accent that was inherited from Eastern Kentucky, but I’ve lived in Southern Indiana my whole life. My Grandparents moved from the mountains when my parents were young and here I still sit. Things they brought to Indiana were, furniture, a bible, oil lamps, a treadle sewing machine, and this southern twang that I share with my three siblings.
In my family a short distance is, “’bout from here to the pond.” A small amount is a, “hair dab.” And Pepsi is “pop”.
I drink coffee from a big mug and sweet tea from a mason jar. I love laughing with my two younger sisters, we can entertain each other for hours on end. When we were young my older brother taught me how to shoot a bb gun, play football with an old shoe, and how to dissect frogs.
We call canning vegetables, “putting away.” Example: “I finally got my green beans put away.”
Front porch sittin’ and watching the sun go down is quiet time, Jesus time, family time, ALL the time. I love porch sittin’, sunsets, wildflowers, springtime and fall. I love fresh fallen snow, a warm fire and Christmas.
I’m your average southern woman. I’m married to my best friend and I love him to pieces. We have four amazing grownup children, one son in law and six grandchildren. We have strong family roots and we never part without saying “I love you.”
My parents instilled in us strong marriage values and love for family and God.
If you have found your way here, it’s not by accident. I have prayed for you. I have sought God and my desire is to share words of hope that will encourage you to have a closer walk with Jesus. When we share His grace we share His very essence. Be encouraged and walk with me and let’s scatter His grace together!
